SCCS is a trusted distributor in the UK and Ireland for Amberg Technologies, partnering specialist rail measurement with Leica Geosystems’ wider measurement portfolio
St Neots, UK – 28th August 2026 – For over twenty years, Amberg Technologies and Leica Geosystems, part of Hexagon, have combined their measurement expertise to provide the global rail market with highly productive and precise measurement systems for all parts of the rail lifecycle.
From 3D track geometry surveys and monitoring to new track construction and tamping as well as high-accuracy laser scanning for rail corridor clearance analysis, the partnership between the two companies has been at the forefront of rail measurement innovation.
Since 2009, SCCS has been a key UK distributor for Amberg Rail and Tunnel solutions offering sales, hire, service, upgrades, training and technical support by specialist staff who know the industry they serve. This combination of industry understanding and advanced technology is key for future product development and progression.
Recent highlights of this partnership are the successful integration of two pivotal Leica Geosystems’ products - the AP20 AutoPole and AI-powered TS20 robotic total station - into the Amberg Rail and Amberg Tunnel software. Customers operating on rails or within tunnels can now benefit from significantly faster and more robust target measuring, even in the most challenging environments.

This combination provides the specialist rail measurement capabilities of Amberg alongside Leica Geosystems’ proven positioning and surveying technology, helping customers capture accurate data efficiently within increasingly restricted rail possessions.

One partner for the complete measurement workflow
From track measurement and positioning to reality capture, underground detection, structural monitoring, construction and safety operations, SCCS can provide the technologies required across the rail asset lifecycle.
Customers can capture existing infrastructure, understand what lies beneath the track, monitor movement and deformation, and generate the accurate data required to assess existing assets and support the design and construction of new infrastructure.
“It’s great to see the ongoing collaboration between Amberg Technologies and Leica Geosystems” said Matt Lock, Rail Sales Manager at Hexagon Infrastructure and Geospatial. “We are excited by the possibilities of our new integration. Customers will see real benefits from using the equipment in the more challenging environments that rail and tunnel bring. Locating, following and measuring the target will be faster and easier than ever before, meaning people can focus on what they are doing, not what the instrument is doing.
“The best part is that existing Amberg customers who want to take advantage of the TS20 and AP20 can now do so by simply upgrading to the latest version of Amberg Rail or Amberg Tunnel software, further maximising their investment with a familiar workflow.”
Johannes Mueller, CEO at Amberg Technologies, added: “The working relationship with SCCS is hugely important to Amberg. By working closely together we are able to pass on significant benefits to existing customers and new organisations that want to measure and maintain their rail infrastructure.”
