Sections and profiles

Very fast generation of fully annotated sheeted sections & profiles, with minimal user input.

  • Create long sections and cross sections through an unlimited number of surfaces.
  • Long and cross-sections generated on screen via cursor, from existing surveyed strings, from co-ordinated data files and from alignments.
  • Create sections from all points within a given bandwidth, for river sections.
  • Facilities for automatic annotation of chainage, offset, level gradient, plan position, cut feature/string name, surface to surface height difference, slope distance, and partial chainage.

  • Fully configurable section drawing style, colouring, layering, and text positioning. Place annotators on either side of the section point, or centred underneath. Automatically shift annotators to prevent overlapping text, or automatically delete overlapping annotators. Save and restore section drawing styles to file to accommodate multiple drawing styles for different clients, scales and survey applications.
  • Extensive sheet layout facilities for section/profile drawings, with automatic re-computation of sheet layout with any section scale, datum, or style changes. Select from a library of predefined sheet layouts or create your own.
  • Subdivide long sections either at regular interval or specified chainages to suit the selected layout.
  • Remove or densify annotation for selected surfaces, annotators, chainage ranges and/or graphs.
  • Export sections to coordinate datasets for setting out purposes.
  • Bi-directional link to CAD.
Parallel string sections, to allow side-by-side comparisons of any number of strings based wither on a reference alignment, reference string or starting point.

Volumetric Analysis

Choice of volume calculation techniques: Prismodial, grid and section methods.

 3    4

  • Cut /Fill analysis.
  • Isopachyte models.
  • Full volumetric reports with analysis of any potential errors (1).
  • Annotation of areas and volumes on cross sections with cut/fill area highlighting.
  • Spoil heap volumes, for automatic calculation and annotation of multiple heaps or pits in a given model (2).
  • Calculation and annotation of plan and surface areas by ground type, with user definable ground type library (3).
  • Calculation and annotation of volumes by ground type by way of depth or datum, with user definable group type library (3).
  • Cut and Fill Balance. To shift the datum of a currently active alignment with design strings, such
that when modelled and compared to the current surface, the cut and fill volumes will be the same. Compaction and bulking factors can be entered for cut and fill, and the balance is computed based on the corrected volumes. You may also enter a level tolerance, which lets SCC know when to stop balancing.
  • Material volumes calculated and reported by area and depth, with user defined depths, colour schemes, and annotation (4).
  • Automatic generation of model boundary string from triangulation for volumetric analysis

Design

Interactive design of:

  • Horizontal alignments
  • Vertical alignments
  • Section templates with multiple surfaces and cut/fill specific elements
  • Real time side slope analysis
  • Export design to new model for volumetric analysis
  • Creation of alignments from existing survey strings
  • Import of design geometry from MOSS/MX and DOER
  • Support for importing design geometry from MX/MOSS as 6d and 12d strings
  • Option to compress geometry of alignments
  • Manual input of alignment with given parameters (chainage, x, y, radius etc)
  • Calculation of unknown parameters within an alignment from given information
  • Set gradient between points. Used in the creation of building 'footprints' to give specified gradients on part of the surface for drainage
  • Export of geometric information to supported loggers/roading programs
  • Comprehensive access to design chainage/offset system for modelling and spreadsheet functions, including extraction of sub-models and data sets by chainage/offset range
  • Merging of design survey models

3D Viewing - 3D surface viewer with extensive 3D object and texture library, time of day based shading and automated flythroughs.

Elevation Surveys

Taking points surveyed in plan view and projecting to create an elevation.

Either whole drawing or selected points only

* Automatic rotation and 'flip' from x,y,z to x,z,y

* Rotates through a user definable plane

* Creation of new model for each

One simple command to control elevations

ZVI
ZVI (Zone of Visual Intrusion) or viewshed analysis, otherwise known as intervisibility analysis is an analysis that determines all the points on a surface at which a given object or set of objects are visible. This is accomplished by projecting a series of polar rays (view sections) at even horizontal angular intervals from each object (view station) being analysed. These rays are coloured, based on whether the object is visible either from the ground or at a defined eye level.

All 3D features are taken into account when using ZVI. In the example above, the circular buildings are causing a shadowing effect over the visual rays.

Plotting
Extensive sheet design facilities for creating, editing and plotting. (1)

Works with all Windows compatible plotters and printers, with full print preview. (2)

Support for placement of grids, scales, station coordinate tables, feature keys, bitmapped company logos and text macros. (3)

Automatic rotation of text annotation when using a rotated title sheet.

Multiple sheet insertion (4)

Support for all standard and user definable paper sizes.

Export multiple scaled sheets to CAD.

1                         2

3                         4
Support for multiple fully interactive sheet views in models and sections.
